CDS Vic provides a 10 cent refund for every eligible drink container returned. Each bottle, can and carton that you return helps to divert valuable containers from landfill.
Most aluminium, glass, plastic and liquid paperboard (carton) drink containers between 150mL and 3 litres are eligible. Keep the lids on, we recycle them too!
AFL Victoria and CDS Vic have teamed up to support local football clubs across the state in raising funds and promoting sustainability. Through this exciting partnership, CDS Vic is now the Official Recycling Partner of AFL Victoria until 2027.

The ‘Scouts Victoria Container Saver Challenge’ (Competition) is conducted by Scout Association of Australia Victorian Branch (ABN 39 662 387 026) of 152 Forster Road, Mount Waverley VIC 3149 (Scouts Victoria).
The Competition commences at [time (AEST)] on [date] and closes at [time (AEST)] on[date] (Competition Period).
Eligibility / How to enter
Entry is open to Scouts Groups:
operating in the State of Victoria;
registered with Scouts Victoria; and
registered as a Donation Partner with:
CDS Vic; and
at least one CDS Vic Zone Operator (Tomra-Cleanaway, Visy or Re-Return It).
(Participating Group).
How to participate
A Participating Group may participate during the Competition Period by:
presenting eligible containers at CDS VIC refund points (Refund Point); and
ensuring that each eligible container that is presented at a Refund Point is recorded as collected against the Participating Group’s Donation Partner ID at the time of presentation, either through:
using the Zone Operator’s smart phone app; or
following the steps directed by Refund Point staff.
There is no limit to how many times a Participating Group may present eligible containers for collection at a Refund Point, except that all eligible containers must be collected by a Return Point in compliance with:
section 4 above; and
CDS Vic public guidance (eg, guidance at www.cdsvic.org.au) and the legislation governing CDS Vic (CDS Vic Rules).
It is up to Refund Point staff to determine whether a container may be accepted at a Refund Point in accordance with the CDS Vic Rules. The decision of Refund Point staff at the time of presentation is final.
Participation restrictions
Participating Group members under the age of 18 years old that participate in the Competition will have provided parent or guardian consent through the Participating Group’s existing procedures.
Members of the management of the CDS Vic Scheme Coordinator (VicReturn Limited) and of CDS Vic Zone Operators (including those employees responsible for reviewing and providing Donation Partner data to Scouts Victoria) will not participate in the Competition.
Determining the winner
After the end of the Competition Period, Scouts Victoria will award three prizes to three Participating Groups based on eligible containers accepted by Refund Points and recorded against the Participating Group’s Donation Partner ID during the Competition Period:

Scouts Victoria will determine the winners of the Prizes (Winning Groups) based on data provided by the Scheme Coordinator of CDS Vic, VicReturn Limited (Competition Data).
CDS Vic and the Scheme Coordinator will not enter into any correspondence with any Participating Group regarding the Competition Data provided by the Scheme Coordinator.
Participating Groups are not required to be present at the Award Date to be eligible to win a Prize.
Scouts Victoria will take reasonable steps to notify the Winning Groups directly by [email and/or phone provided to CDS Vic against the Participating Group’s Donation Partner ID] within [2] business days of the Award Date.
The Winning Groups will be announced on Scouts Victoria's website [insert link] on [insert date], provided the Winning Groups has been notified by [email and/or phone] and acknowledged and accepted these terms and conditions in writing within two (2) business days of being contacted by [email and/or phone].
Claiming the prize
As a condition of claiming a Prize, a Winning Group must provide a representative to attend an Award Ceremony co-hosted by Scouts Victoria and CDS Vic at a date to be notified (Award Ceremony). Scouts Victoria and CDS Vic may invite more than one representative from each Winning Group to attend the Award Ceremony, in their discretion.
Representatives attending the Award Ceremony will be requested to provide written consent to be photographed, recorded and/or interviewed at the Award Ceremony.
Members of a Winning Group may also be invited at participate in case studies or future media events organised by Scouts Victoria and/or CDS Vic.
Resolving disputes
Complaints regarding the Competition may be submitted by:
If there is a dispute concerning the complaint, the decision of Scouts Victoria is final and binding, and no further correspondence will be entered into.
Participating Group Personal Information
All data created through the participation of a Participating Group in the Competition that is handled by Scouts Victoria or CDS Vic becomes the property of Scouts Victoria or CDS Vic’s the Scheme Coordinator and Zone Operators, as applicable to data’s respective point of generation.
Scouts Victoria and CDS Vic, through the Scheme Coordinator and its Zone Operators, will collect personal information of Participating Group members and assisting volunteers through Participating Groups’ participation in the Competition. This information may be collected through a number of ways, such as registering as a Donation Partner, presenting containers at Refund Points and claiming a Prize (Participating Group PI).
Scouts Victoria will use and handle Participating Group PI as set out in its Privacy Policy, which can be viewed at [insert link]. CDS Vic will use and handle Participating Group PI as set out in its Privacy Policy, which can be viewed at https://cdsvic.org.au/privacy-policy. These privacy policies set out how Participating Group members and assisting volunteers may access, update or correct their personal information or make a privacy complaint.

Information on how to enter and prize details set out in all communications regarding the Competition form part of these terms.
Should they be a Winning Group, Participating Groups consent to publication of their Group’s name in accordance with these terms.
Any act or omission that does not comply with these terms is invalid.Errors and omissions may be accepted at Scouts Victoria's discretion.
Scouts Victoria’s decision is final in relation to all aspects of this Competition and no correspondence will be entered into in that respect.
If a prize (or part of a prize) is unavailable or unable to be used for reasons beyond Scouts Victoria's reasonable control, and Scouts Victoria and a Winning Group are unable to reach agreement regarding replacement of that prize (or part of that prize), Scouts Victoria may substitute alternative goods or services of equal or higher value, subject to any regulatory requirements.
Scouts Victoria and CDS Vic reserve the right, at any time, in their respective sole discretions, to verify the validity of any activity, including presented or accepted containers, of any Participating Group and its members or assisting volunteers (including any Participating Group member or assisting volunteer’s identity, age, place of residence and activity at a Refund Point) and reserve the right, in their respective sole discretions, to disqualify a Participating Gorup which Scouts Victoria and/or CDS Vic have reason to believe has breached any of these terms or the CDS Vic Rules, has tampered with a registration or container collection and acceptance process or otherwise engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of theCompetition. The legal rights of Scouts Victoria and CDS Vic (including each of Recycling Victoria, the Scheme Coordinator and Zone Operators, acting severally – the CDS Vic Entities) to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
If for any reason this Competition is not capable of running as planned (including, but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of Scouts Victoria or CDS Vic which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition), Scouts Victoria may, subject to the approval of CDS Vic and all relevant regulatory authorities, take any action that may be available including cancelling, terminating, modifying or suspending the Competition.
Failure by Scouts Victoria or the CDS Vic Entities to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
Nothing in these terms limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under similar consumer protection laws operating in Victoria (Non-Excludable Guarantees).
Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, Scouts Victoria and the CDS Vic Entities and their its related entities (including its respective directors, officers, employees and agents) are not responsible for and exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of:
any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the control of Scouts Victoria or the CDS Vic Entities);
any personal injury while attending a Refund Point;
any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
any entry or Prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by Scouts Victoria) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Scouts Victoria or the CDS Vic Entities, as applicable;
any variation in Prize value to that stated in these terms;
any tax liability incurred by a beneficiary of a Prize;
